EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market‑leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction, and BAM Nuttall. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high‑speed rail projects.
EKFB is looking for a Senior Earthworks General Foreman to join the team in the North Chilterns Area. This position will ensure the safe delivery of earthworks and highway construction projects, within budget and non‑conformance free. You will be responsible for programming and executing the works in line with seasonal targets, ensuring coordination between all disciplines.
You will lead by example, managing a team of Foremen and Supervisors across earthworks activities and mentoring them to deliver high‑quality work. You’ll oversee plant efficiency, propose measures for improvement with subcontractors, and ensure works are carried out in line with approved method statements. Additionally, you will conduct effective inductions, toolbox talks, daily task briefings, and point‑of‑work assessments for Site Operatives.
You will plan ahead to unlock and unblock areas ahead of cutting and filling operations, ensuring smooth progress. Previous experience with stabilisation is desirable but not essential. You will also coordinate resources, manage hired/internal plant and equipment, and proactively drive progress to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
Regular reporting (including plant performance and breakdowns) and maintaining accurate site records will also be part of your responsibilities. This role requires a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills. You will report directly to the Project Manager and play a key role in delivering critical works on this high‑profile project.
Extensive experience working on site is required; this is why we welcome applications from different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. Our aim is to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels they are able to be themselves.
