About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are looking to recruit a Freelance Site Engineer to join our team based at Chipping Warden. The Site Engineer is responsible on site for other junior engineers and assists in the construction operations in the Chipping Warden area. You will be required to liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget. You will be responsible for working with the setting‑out team, developing junior engineers and identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the senior team and Sub‑Agent. Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors to ensure they meet contractual requirements. You will assist with production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

About You

  • HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE).
  • You must hold a CSCS- White, White‑Yellow, Red‑Experienced, Black‑Manager or Gold‑Supervisor.
  • Previous highways or Structures experience is essential.
  • Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
  • Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage is essential for this role.
  • You must hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) security clearance will be required (to be undertaken as part of onboarding process). We will undertake standard employment checks, including references, ID, driving licence and right to work in the UK, and other relevant checks where applicable.
