About the Role

EKFB is a joint venture that brings together international, market‑leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall. We are currently looking for a Drainage Coordinator to join our Routewide team based in Milton Keynes.

In this role you will support the management of drainage design delivery and the production and management of departures and technical queries. The designs are produced by consultants and are managed independently by each project area. You will liaise and work closely with the EKFB section design managers to provide technical support, recommendations and to ensure consistency across the programme. You will help the overall design delivery as per schedule, support the management of drainage design change through the construction lifecycle and provide technical support to the Structures and Drainage Discipline Lead for non‑drainage related items when required.

Part of this role is to identify, track, report on and manage, where required, critical technical drainage challenges that can have a significant impact on the whole programme. You will be required to manage the production of standard or programme‑wide solutions to support the delivery of individual drainage designs and lead the management of programme‑wide drainage related optimisations in liaison with other EKFB teams. Support section‑specific drainage related optimisations and promote their applicability across the programme. Support the commercial and contractual management of programme‑wide issues related to drainage design, consents, completion and handover including early warnings, risk reduction meetings and compensation events.

In addition, you will manage and respond to relevant commercial communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs etc.) on CEMAR and provide guidance and support for section‑specific issues in liaison with EKFB section design teams. You will maintain close liaison and collaboration with the HS2 technical team as required and represent EKFB on technical drainage matters when required. You will provide strategies, guidance and support for the opening and handover of completed permanent drainage assets and support the production and tracking of programme‑wide drainage metrics and progress.

About You

  • Degree or similar level qualification in civil engineering or other relevant field.
  • Ideally chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Experience in construction and/or design, including drainage activities.
  • Experience in the management of internal and external interfaces.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of NEC contract mechanisms (Early Warnings, Technical Queries, etc.).
  • Ability to produce high‑quality documentation and technical records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Smart Connect).
  • Experience with assurance processes and document control.
  • Driving licence and access to the vehicle is required for this role.

Pre‑employment Checks

It is worth remembering that EKFB will undertake the relevant / standard employment checks if you are successful in the selection process. This includes taking up your references, as well as checking your ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and your right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre‑employment checks. BPSS security clearance will be required (to be undertaken as part of the onboarding process). Please note your CV may be shared with joint venture partners on this project.
