About The Role
EKFB has been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high-speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. The site is Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire. We are recruiting Freelance Land Surveyors on a short-term basis.
Responsibilities include supporting the Senior Land Surveyor in establishing and maintaining the site survey control network, and reporting and validating construction stages. You will undertake land, topographic, hydrographic and measured building surveys using specialist equipment and technology such as robotics, 3D scanners, GNSS, and drones. Analysis of data will be conducted with plans, maps, charts and software including AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and GIS programs. Survey drawings will be prepared with the Senior Land Surveyor, data presented to clients and reports written.
You will coordinate with Site Engineers regarding project priorities, changes or deviations, and with consultants for inspection and approval. Tasks include setting out, as-built surveys, topographical and engineering surveys with laser scanners, managing point-cloud registration and post-processing, GNSS network surveying, precise traversing and levelling, and managing drone surveys for earthwork measures.
About You
Key skills and qualifications:
- HND/degree in Land Survey, Geomatics or equivalent.
- Experience in a similar role and with similar responsibilities.
- Experience preparing survey-related Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
- Expertise with Trimble total stations, levels and GNSS receivers.
- Excellent AutoCAD skills to produce 2D and 3D drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; solid report writing and compilation.
- Proficiency in Trimble Business Center survey software.
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Valid CSCS card.
Pre-employment Checks
EKFB will undertake standard employment checks, including references, ID, driving licence and right-to-work in the UK. Some roles may require further checks. BPSS security clearance will be required as part of onboarding.
