Company Description: EHS Projects is a nationally operating environment, health and safety consultancy based in Sheffield. We work with clients across a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, food and drink, chemical, engineering, waste, and aviation. Our services span the full breadth of EHS practice: compliance auditing, process safety and safety in design, CDM (including Principal Designer and Principal Contractor support), embedded on site contractor management, environmental permitting, and regulatory reporting. We pride ourselves on working as a genuine extension of our clients' teams, providing practical, constructive advice that helps them prioritise resource, take ownership of their EHS risks and opportunities, and drive meaningful improvement.

Role Description: We are seeking an EHS Consultant with a primary focus on health and safety to join our growing team. Based from our Sheffield office the role involves significant time at client sites across the UK. The core purpose of the role is to deliver our compliance audit programmes, though the workload is varied and spans a broad range of health, safety, and environmental compliance activities and supporting projects.

In this role you will:

  • Support the wider team of EHS consultants and associates across our operations.
  • Undertake health and safety audits covering legal compliance, management systems, and corporate EHS agendas.
  • Deliver health and safety management system support projects.
  • Contribute to CDM projects including Pre-Construction Information, Construction Phase Plans, and site visits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Demonstrate ambition to grow and help diversify the services EHS Projects offers.

For the right candidate, additional responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering machinery safety projects (ISO 12100 / PUWER).
  • Supporting specialist process safety consultants on DSEAR and process hazard analysis projects (e.g. HAZOP).
  • Conducting environmental compliance audits.

Why is this job right for you? If you are looking to build, or perhaps begin, a career as an EHS professional, and you thrive when given real autonomy and responsibility, this role will suit you well. You will gain rapid exposure across multiple industries and clients, building a broad foundation that is difficult to replicate elsewhere. We hold high standards and will actively challenge you to grow.

A significant part of what makes this role unique is the variety it offers. You will be regularly travelling to client sites across the UK, with overnight stays forming a routine part of the job. You will see the inside of a wide range of facilities, build relationships with clients across the country, and never find yourself stuck in the same routine. If you enjoy being out on the road and working in different environments, you will feel right at home here.

Whether you already have a sense of where you want to specialise within EHS, or are just starting out, this position will give you the breadth of experience to make that decision with confidence. We have a strong track record of supporting employees to develop in the directions that interest them most.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for a smart, driven professional in the early stages of their career. You may already have experience in a health and safety role or have been exposed to safety work as part of a previous position, but this is not essential. What matters most is that you are genuinely motivated to develop as an EHS professional and are ready to hit the ground running.

Essential Requirements:

  • STEM degree.
  • At least one year of professional post graduation experience.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and project management skills.
  • A confident, self-motivated work style with the drive to develop into a senior consultant and take on project leadership responsibilities.
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel regularly across the UK.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in H&S consultancy, compliance, or a professional EHS role.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or higher H&S qualification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or wider industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS legislation and best practice.
  • Process safety or engineering background.
