About the role
You will provide day‑to‑day analytical and research support across the council, preparing, cleaning and maintaining datasets and turning them into clear tables, charts, maps and simple dashboards. Working closely with the Policy Officer and Performance and Risk Officer, you will help ensure decisions are based on accurate, timely information and that we can track change over time. You’ll support services with their data needs, from updating ward and parish profiles to supplying data for performance dashboards, scorecards, surveys and policy projects. You will also document data sources and methods so that our analysis is reliable, repeatable and easy for others to understand.
About you
You’ll have a degree or equivalent experience working with data in a public sector, charity, research or similar environment, for example in analysis, reporting, research or GIS. You will be confident using spreadsheets and basic data tools (such as Excel and data visualisation tools), with a strong eye for accuracy and detail and the ability to clean, organise and combine datasets from different sources. You’ll be able to present data clearly for non‑specialist audiences, using straightforward charts, tables and narrative to tell the story the data shows. You will be well organised, able to manage multiple requests and deadlines, and keen to learn new tools and methods as part of a small, supportive professional team.
Desirable experience includes survey design and analysis, using GIS or mapping tools, supporting equality or service impact assessments with data, or working with policy, performance or risk colleagues on cross‑cutting projects.
In return for your valued contribution, we can offer you a competitive benefits package which includes hybrid working options, training and development opportunities, generous annual leave and flexi time, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and more.
