We are seeking an experienced Tendering / Estimating Engineer for one of our clients, a specialist Independent Connections Provider (ICP) delivering new electricity connections for commercial, industrial, and private network customers across the UK. They design and install high-quality LV to 11kV connections and manage the full process from initial enquiry through to energisation. They are looking for someone to take ownership of tendering and estimating activities for new connections projects, particularly those involving LV–11kV networks, post-metered works, and competitive tenders with DNOs and iDNOs. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping winning proposals, developing compliant network designs, and providing accurate cost assessments to support the delivery team.
Working closely with clients, DNO/iDNO stakeholders, and internal engineering teams, you will produce designs and quotations that align with industry standards, including G81 specifications and ENA engineering recommendations. You will also take ownership of programme planning, customer engagement, and ensuring all tender responses are robust, compliant, and commercially sound. This position is ideal for someone who understands the technical and commercial requirements of ICP projects and who enjoys supporting the full tendering lifecycle from initial scoping through to submission.
Key Responsibilities- Produce compliant designs for LV–11kV network connections in line with customer requirements and DNO/iDNO standards
- Manage the tendering process for post-metered and new connections projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with technical specifications
- Interpret and apply DNO G81 documentation and ENA ER standards
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotations, and commercial proposals
- Liaise with clients, DNOs, iDNOs, and internal engineering teams to gather and clarify technical information
- Coordinate design approval processes and support project transition into delivery
- Maintain project information within the Business Management System
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and customer expectations throughout the tendering cycle
- Promote Health, Safety, Quality, and compliance across all tender documentation
- Keep updated with relevant legislation, company policies, and industry changes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders concurrently
- Confident communicator able to collaborate effectively with clients and industry stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and operate as part of a wider technical team
- Good understanding of electrical design principles up to 11kV
- Willingness to travel across the UK when required
- Professional attitude with a commitment to high-quality work
- Relevant industry experience within ICPs, DNO/iDNO environments, utilities, or electrical design
- Training or background in LV–11kV distribution, new connections, or power engineering
