About us
We aim to provide the highest standard of healthcare at Esk Valley Medical Practice. The surgery has been looking after families on the North Yorkshire Moors for many years and our emphasis is on family care and continuity. We believe in using the latest available technology and services to provide traditional general practice. There are four doctors over our 2 practice sites and we work as a team with our nursing staff and receptionists. We use Whitby Hospital to admit patients when appropriate and make full use of the support services located there. Being equidistant between Scarborough and Middlesbrough, we refer patients in either direction at their request. We like to think of ourselves as approachable so if you wish to discuss any aspect of your healthcare please don’t hesitate to speak to either of the doctors, nurses or administrative staff who will all be pleased to help.
We have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th year medical students attached to the practice. They are here to learn by sitting in on consultations and observing the doctors and nurses. If you do not want medical students present during your consultation, please let the receptionist know. We also train doctors who are entering general practice as a speciality. They will be attached to the surgery for six months or a year at a time. You may be asked for your permission to have your consultation videoed for teaching purposes. As before, if you do not want this to be done, please feel free to say so.
