The Role
We are seeking an experienced Sustainability and Compliance Manager to lead and manage our compliance and environmental systems framework. This is a broad and influential role, responsible for sustainability strategy delivery, ISO systems, regulatory WEEE compliance, and audit management across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage compliance across environmental, regulatory, and industry requirements (including WEEE waste reporting through AATF).
- Own and maintain ISO management systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 27001.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including carbon reporting and reduction strategies.
- Manage internal and external audits, ensuring ongoing certification and compliance.
- Oversee health and safety systems in collaboration with operational teams.
- Ensure accurate and timely regulatory, customer, and supply chain reporting/ AE returns.
- Act as the main point of contact for regulators, auditors, and certification bodies.
- Develop, implement, and improve policies, procedures, and controls.
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure business readiness and compliance.
- Line manage and develop the Sustainability and Compliance team across both Burton and Yorkshire sites.
About You
- Proven working experience in a compliance, sustainability, or QHSE management role.
- Strong practical knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 14001, 9001, 27001).
- Experience in environmental compliance, ideally within recycling, waste, or WEEE sectors.
- Experience managing audits and certification processes.
- Knowledge of carbon reporting and sustainability frameworks.
- Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification (desirable).
- Degree or equivalent working experience in WEEE, environmental science, sustainability, or related field.
