The role is based in our London office. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Rail Deputy Project Director to lead the design and build phases of major rail station infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving project success. Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to a large multi-discipline team, to successfully deliver large and complex rail station infrastructure design and build projects, within scope, budget, and key dates. Stakeholder Management: Liaise with key stakeholders, including public bodies, clients, third party organisations, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, to ensure seamless collaboration and project success. Construction Management: Manage construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality, health & safety, and environmental standards. Monitor progress and mitigate risks to avoid delays and cost overruns. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide regular project updates to the JV board, senior management, clients, and stakeholders through reports, presentations, and progress meetings. Design & Engineering Oversight: Oversee all design and engineering aspects, ensuring technical compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements. Governance and Project Controls: Develop effective project control frameworks and digital tools to provide the right information at the right time to the right people through a suite of reports and dashboards. Budget and Cost Control: Accountable for project budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control measures to optimise resources and maintain profitability. Programme: Accountable for the integrated project programme (P6), based on a robust WBS and CBS, including defined Key Milestones and Give/Gets. Ensuring programme compliance to the NEC contract, including recording Compensation Events and manage programme updates, including undertaking critical path analysis and providing key information to the project team. Establish a robust scope baseline and implement protocols to assess and implement scope change, updating configuration documents as required, and assessing impact on upstream and downstream contracts Contract Management: Ensure a robust strategy is in place for upstream and downstream NEC contract administration and all NEC contract requirements are discharged. Leading tenders across the UK and International Rail business Key account manager for clients Projects for multiple commissions across the UK and International Transportation business. Bachelor or Masters Degree in a Project Management, Scientific or Engineering subject Extensive experience delivering large and complex rail station/infrastructure projects Experience working on complex design and build projects, within a design joint venture Excellent understanding of HS2 and/or Network Rail processes and associated standards Experience of multi-disciplinary design and coordination, and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stages Accredited NEC 3 and 4 Project Manager Familiar with Primavera, PowerBi, CEMAR, A-site, BIM, DOORS, and other tools Significant experience of developing and implementing strategies for projects and programmes Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers In each project we design, engineer and operate we care deeply about the legacy we’re leaving behind.
