The Midland Metro Alliance is expanding the West Midlands tram network to improve connectivity, support economic growth, and provide more sustainable transport options. Key projects include the Birmingham Eastside and Westside extensions, and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill extension.
EGIS leads the Designer JV of the Alliance and is working in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver a ground-breaking mass transit system that catalyses sustainable growth and regeneration in the West Midlands. Our scope includes Concept, Preliminary and Detailed Design, Systems and sub-systems Integration, Engineering construction support, Safety Verification and Testing and Commissioning.
We are looking to hire an experienced Light Rail Programme Manager to join this project. You will be based in the office at Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver a portfolio of programmes and projects of major light rail design projects.
- Provide leadership and daily direction of Senior Project Managers, design leads and associated support functions including PMO, Commercial, safety, Consents and Procurement.
- Ensure risk and opportunity management is undertaken across their portfolio.
- Forecast expenditure, project and sub-programme milestones, regulatory outputs and resource requirements.
- Manage the performance of the assigned portfolio plan including safety, cost and schedule efficiencies targeted, network performance and customer experience.
- Visibly help develop processes to improve problem solving and challenge existing solutions.
- Ensure review and continuous improvement of the project delivery team's knowledge and skill base through training, coaching & staff development.
- Accountable for the ongoing development of robust programme and project strategies.
- Manage working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Develop a good working relationship across all Egis business lines and internal stakeholders.
- Manage both strategic and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale programme and project.
- Ensure that commercial arrangements are managed with others including Alliance members, delivery partners and other suppliers.
- Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service.
- May be asked to participate in 'Business Change' or other 'Special' projects in addition to existing role and duties.
- Member of the Association of Project Management (or equivalent).
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in engineering / project management roles within the construction industry, preference for rail or tramway projects.
- Relevant experience in project management and delivering complex rail projects.
- Established network of tier 1 contractor / consultant relationships.
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Promotion and management of framework contracts.
- Identifying and building new pipeline of work.
- Identifying recruitment needs to service pipeline.
- Right to work in the UK.
