About Us
The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn‑key services for London’s state‑of‑the‑art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi‑year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.
About The Role
An engineer in the builders work in connection (BWIC) team at HS2 Old Oak Common Station for work package 23 design and build of MEPHFC works. This will be for Anthro Joint Venture (VVB Engineering and Egis). Working in the Anthro design office, London, 3 days a week, and attending site meetings at Old Oak Common where required.
You will be responsible for an area of work in the production, checking and coordination of BWIC works. As an engineer you will work under the direction of a senior member for the BWIC, coordinating with our MEPHFC designers, client BBVS, and third‑party work packages. With support you will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget.
This Will Include
- Coordination and agreement of building services opening positions with our CREs/Lead Engineers and third parties
- Agreement of BWIC with respect to fire stopping solution, led by our Fire Engineer
- Management of a coordinated federated model, with evidence of clash detection resolution and RFI acceptance with respect to BWIC
- Structural review of design and third‑party proprietary systems, including reinforced concrete, precast concrete, steelwork, blockwork, and DfMA/bracketry etc.
- Support senior staff at meetings with the Client and Principal Designer to escalate issues, evidence coordination and record actions via RFI
General Duties
To complete tasks to relevant engineering standards meeting the requirements of the client remit, as well as relevant legislation, company standards, and client procedures.
Your Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To
- Produce and prepare design in accordance with HS2, Eurocodes, and NR‑L2‑CIV‑003 (Engineering and Architectural Assurance of Building and Civil Engineering Works)
- Produce civil / structural engineering design drawings, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation to HS2 / Network Rail standards / Building regulations
- Produce and coordinate engineering activities so that they result in civil / structural schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality
- Coordinate with a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure that civil / structural design deliverables meet HS2 / Network Rail standards / building regulations
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and NR/L2/OHS/0047
- On projects will report to Project Directors and/or Design Leads, depending on project size / workload. This role may also include working on projects internationally for EGIS Transport Solutions or other EGIS subsidiaries.
Essential
- Technical qualifications to degree in relevant subject BEng/MEng
- Ability to follow instruction and undertake design interfaces and integration by following agreed processes
- Ability to communicate effectively to deliver on time and to programme
- Experience of working in an engineering production environment
- Experience in the railway industry
- Experience in following procedures to ensure a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality throughout all design stage gates
- Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
- Knowledge of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation
- CITB CSCS scheme
Desirable
- Professional Engineer Registration status with the Engineering Council (UK) and be registered with an appropriate professional institution
- Leadership skills and mentoring experience
- Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow successfully
- An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works, including low carbon design
- IT competence in remote working and facilitation of digital workshops
- Knowledge of quality assurance
- PTS AC/DC
