As an Engineer, you will be a key member of the production of civil and bridge engineering projects under the mentorship and guidance of a Senior/Principal Engineer. With support you will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to manage graduate and digital/BIM team members.

Your Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To:

  • Design and assess highway and railway bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Contribute to the preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, scheme feasibility studies and outline cost estimates.
  • Contribute to the coordination of engineering activities so that they result in civil/structural schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
  • Produce calculations in accordance with agreed standards and requirements for checking and approval by line manager.
  • Produce engineering deliverables that meet Health and Safety legislation, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, or equivalent for international projects.
  • Manage BIM/CAD technicians to complete the deliverables.
  • Contribute and share best practice across the various project teams.

This role will involve working with Egis colleagues in Ireland and may also include working on other projects internationally. This will predominantly be via remote conferencing and periodic travel.

What do we need from you:

Essential:

  • Technical qualifications to degree in relevant subject BEng/MEng.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE / IStructE).
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar bridge/civil engineering role.
  • Skilled in bridge modelling analysis software such as Midas Civil, LUSAS.
  • Experience in design of concrete, steel, and composite bridges.
  • An understanding of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design and related regulations (CDM).
  • Working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to structural schemes.
  • Clear and concise communicator.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK.

Desirable:

  • Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment, gained from working on both construction sites and the design office.
  • An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works, including low carbon design.
  • Experience in bridge assessment or inspections.
  • Bridge Remedial Design.
  • Parametric Modelling.
  • Preparation of contract documents and BOQs.
  • ITS Civils Design.
