About the Role
Egis Road Operations M40 Ltd are looking for aTree Works Supervisor to assist with the planning, scouting and delivery of the Landscape & Ecology (L&E) programme. You will be working as part of a team to achieve the landscape and ecology goals on the M40 which include,
balancing pond maintenance, ditch work maintenance, vegetation defects, weed control, ecological
survey and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Scouting Upcoming Work:
- Conduct scouting operations for planned maintenance work or defect rectification.
- Advise on expected duration of each task.
- Document and report findings to the L&E Project Manager.
- Ensure that all necessary information, resources, and instructions are included in the work packs.
Supporting our internal Landscape & Ecology Teams
- Provide technical advice where applicable to help and develop the team.
- Support the L&E Lead Operative in their day-day activities.
- Advise on training and equipment to support the team.
- Raise requisitions for supplies and equipment.
- Mentor and train maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in L&E Practices.
Liaising with Contractors
- Assist contractors when visiting site.
- Carry out inductions and briefing as and when required.
- Monitor completion paperwork to ensure that it is submitted and filed in a timely manner.
- Supervise their work as and when necessary
Quality Control
- To conduct site visits to review works that have been undertaken by contractors prior to approving payment.
- To carry out snagging exercise on any completion work, liaising with both the internal and external team to rectify any snags.
Actively report health and safety concerns.
- Report any near misses or incidents promptly.
- Promote a positive and safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all
- safety regulations and best practices.
- Promote a positive and proactive attitude towards health and safety.
- Carryout audits on both internal and external teams.
General
- Identify areas for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practice in highway structures maintenance.
- Attend relevant meetings as and when required.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with our client and partners.
- To carry out other such related duties as maybe required.
- To fully engage with the promotion and adoption of any current and future health, safety and wellbeing initiatives rolled out by Egis Road operation M40 Ltd and/or Egis UK.
What do we need from you
Technical skills:
- A strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
- Excellent scouting and observational skills.
- Proficiency in creating and reviewing work plans and packs.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic levels of Microsoft packages and IT systems.
Educational background and experience:
- Basic Tree Survey and Inspection Course.
- Knowledge/ Qualifications in the safe use of small plant, tractors and excavators.
- Knowledge/ Qualifications is safe felling of trees.
- Proven experience in landscape and ecology management, preferably in a highway or large infrastructure environment. ecological constrictions.
- A demonstrable ability to identify areas for improvement, and implement change, through a
- combination of clear and effective communication, and a drive to succeed.
- Considerable and demonstrable experience of a high regard to safety and quality on a
- high-speed strategic road network.
- Vast knowledge of tree species and shrub species, tree diseases, fungal and noxious weeds.
Personal attributes:
- Positive working attitude with a desire to succeed.
- The ability to think outside of the box to overcome issues.
- High level of organisational skills.
- Self-motivated.

Working arrangements:
The role will be based in our Banbury depot reporting to the Landscape & Ecology Project
Manager, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week.
The role offers flexible working hours between 7am – 7pm. Occasional night shifts may be
required to assist in large/ technical L&E projects
