Job Description
The Senior Commercial Manager will require knowledge and experience in pre and post contract management and procurement within commercial contract management in the rail and infrastructure sector. You will be expected to utilise experience and knowledge of supplier relationships and contract management to drive efficiencies in the supply chain. Working as part of projects and programmes to deliver the strategic aims of their designated portfolios. The Senior Commercial Manager will have extensive, proven experience of commercial management within organisations, projects and programmes. Member of a relevant professional institute with Chartered status. This role can be based in Manchester, Leeds or York. You can expect to be working on a hybrid basis with up to 3 days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Will manage, monitor and report on all commercial aspects of all projects.
- Will manage compliance with the client's Corporate Governance rules and lead cost reporting of all projects.
- Lead the commercial review and valuation of high value/high risk contractor applications in accordance with the client's processes, contractual terms & conditions and commensurate with contractual entitlement.
- Will provide proactive specialist expertise and advice on all change, including proposed scope changes, in accordance with the client's change control systems, recommending or authorising appropriate action to their designated projects and programs.
- Will produce and process applications for payment/invoices to outside clients, compliant with relevant funding agreements, attending client valuation meetings as appropriate.
- Recommend mitigating action on all commercial risk/claim events at the earliest possible time to the allocated projects and programmes.
- Manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices issued in accordance with contractual conditions to confirm whether the client's contractual position is clearly defined.
- Lead the final account settlements on all projects to manage close out as per the project authority, project plan and within agreed timescales.
- Support demonstration of efficiencies and continual improvement of estimating by undertaking cost analysis and benchmarking of completed projects.
- Provide support in the pre-contract procurement of suppliers/main contractors.
- Lead the negotiation of all prices under existing contracts/framework agreements (including the negotiation of target costs).
- Contract (NEC & JCT) and procurement advice to help support the project team.
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent.
- Chartered or pursuing Chartership - RICS.
- To have a minimum of 10 years of experience working in the construction sector in a similar role.
- Experience with working with main contractors delivering Civils, M&E, and Railway infrastructure projects.
