About the Role
Transportation is one of the Egis groups' key sectors and is one of our three global business areas. Spanning rail, urban transit, roads, active travel, ports, structures and Geotechnical. Transportation in the UK and Ireland is at a pivotal point of growth, as we embark on a new phase of investment. We have a strong base in both countries, with staff involved in iconic projects including working on HS2, MMA, the N/M20 Cork to Limerick route and the LUAS extension.
As we progressively integrate our businesses across UK and Ireland, we are now seeking to appoint a Director to lead our transportation business across the two counties which have previously been under separate leadership. The UK and Ireland Transportation Director will be a pivotal role for our business, responsible for strategy and growth of transportation engineering and consulting services in both countries, with Order Intake and P&L responsibility, and demonstrating clear benefits and synergies in operating together – to our teams, to our clients and partners, and to our efficiency and effectiveness.
The role can be based in London or Dublin with regular travel across the UK and Ireland, and to client/partner sites.
Key Responsibilities and Missions
- This role will drive, shape and define, in collaboration with the global transportation business and Country Managing Directors, the transportation strategy for UK and Ireland.
- This role will have full responsibility for implementing this strategy, and delivering with accountability for P&L, order intake, pipeline, in line with annual financial (and non-financial) targets.
- Additional responsibilities include the development of marketing plans, technical and commercial leadership as well as project and staffing requirements and talent management.
- Client and Communication – Participate with select clients and key accounts on current and future business opportunities.
- Team Building and Mentoring – Lead the way on people management to drive a motivated disciplined and productive workforce. This includes effective staff leadership, performance management by setting objectives and driving appraisals and communication.
- Vision and Leadership – Establish and maintain effective organisational structure and skill base to meet the needs of the business in the short and longer term.
- Sustainable Development – Demonstrate effective innovation leadership at all times to enhance the organisation's commitment to sustainable performance.
- Financial Performance – Responsible for maximizing financial results of the UK and Ireland transportation business including, order Intake, profit and loss, fixed assets, capital expenditure and receivables.
- Operational Capability – Responsible for planning, operation and growth of transportation services in UK and Ireland.
What do we need from you – Essential
- Degree level qualification in business management, engineering degree or a related field or equivalent gained through work experience.
- Proven market leader in UK and Ireland transportation companies with extensive experience in the sector.
- Experience essential in international design firms, major rail and/or road projects, P&L management.
- Leadership and proven management ability.
- Strategical acumen with the experience of implementing long-term vision in fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with senior managers, employees, stakeholders and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
