About the Role
The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.
We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and we are looking for a Depot Manager, to oversee the delivery of On-Road operation activities within an allocated area of the M25 network, ensuring operations run smoothly, challenges are resolved, and targets are consistently met.
Leading a team of Supervisors and Operatives, this person will promote a safety-first culture where everyone is committed to doing their work in the right way and ensure teams are appropriately briefed, working efficiently, and have the right resources to succeed. The post holder will also manage various inspection regimes, ensuring high standards of work are maintained across all activities, and contribute to incident management as part of the Silver Manager rota.
Key Accountabilities:
- Operational Planning & Performance:
- Address complex, non-routine problems
- Manage inspections regimes across quadrant e.g. litter survey, vulnerable locations, HPD bollards etc.
- Ensure quality of works undertaken and drive productivity
- Monitor KPI performance
- Oversee accurate data capture of all completed maintenance and incident works activities
- Manage depot facilities, vehicles, plant, and equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensure sufficient resources for On-Roads operations, incident responses and maintenance activities, both reactive and planned
- Be Part of the Silver Manager Rota and manage emergency incidents at silver level
- Responsible for managing winter maintenance at depot, including vehicles, stock and rotas.
- Produce effective daily briefings to deploy staff and ensure records of briefings are maintained
- Ensure compliance with systems, processes, and procedures
- Develop and maintain RAMS associated with incident responses
- Conduct regular inspections of site/depot activities and maintain inspection regimes, reporting both good practices and areas for improvement
- Conduct safety tours and provide feedback on 'Don’t Walk By' observations
- Support Zero Harm objectives through hazard and risk management
- Manage and develop a high performing team, providing clarity of responsibilities, monitoring performance, and supporting growth and development
- Ensure team members are well-equipped for their roles by monitoring and implementing all necessary training
- Oversee depot staff schedules, annual leave, overtime, and sickness
- Carry out Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as required
- Champion talent development and succession planning to build a capable workforce.
- Foster a culture of collaboration through regular communication and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure timely and thorough investigations of any HR, H&S and damage/misuse incidents
- Continuously evaluate operations for opportunities to improve the way we deliver using data, driving innovation and efficiency across the team.
- Focus on lean and sustainability targets
- Report management information related to operations and delivery activities
What do we need from you
- Appropriate CSCS qualification
