Specialising in mild steel and non‑ferrous metals, we proudly serve customers across the East Midlands and throughout the UK from our site in Derby.

Eggleston Steel Ltd is looking to recruit a full‑time Laser Operator to join our warehouse team based in Derby. This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting machinery safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and unloading materials safely
  • Monitoring machine performance and production quality
  • Carrying out routine machine checks and basic maintenance
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment
  • Working collaboratively with the wider team to meet deadlines and targets
  • Performing other tasks associated with the Warehouse Operative role
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience within the steel industry is advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right candidate
  • 2 years minimum experience operating laser cutting machinery
  • Good knowledge of engineering drawings
  • A strong team player who can also work independently
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attitude towards quality and accuracy
  • Good mathematics and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work safely and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Highly motivated and reliable
  • Experience using overhead cranes is advantageous (training can be provided)
  • Forklift licence/training advantageous (training can be provided)
