The multi-skilled Production Operative is to support a team in 3 departments depending on the daily operational business need. To assist with the Production and Packing processes within our bakery and support the Hygiene Department. The multi-skilled Production Operative will provide support to teams in Bakery, Packing and Hygiene, depending on the daily operational business need. Following variable production protocol from Supervisors on a day-to-day basis. To work as part of a team and achieve team objectives. Ability to undertake training as and when required. On-the-job training will be provided. Must undertake food hygiene and health and safety training.
Duties and responsibilities
- Bakery Dept: Work in the bakery, mixing, depositing, loading and offloading baking trolleys from ovens. Working on the production line with packing cakes. To conduct quality checks and discard any faulty items. Moving stock and trolleys to and from the cold room, stacking trays. Maintaining good stock rotation.
- Packing Dept: Use of cutting and packing equipment and machinery. Moving and handling cakes along the production line.
- Hygiene Dept: To assist in carrying out duties as set according to the clean schedule. To ensure all rooms and equipment are cleaned according to good hygiene standards. To perform a variety of cleaning activities as required within the Bakery. Cleaning and disassembling and reassembling bakery equipment parts. To deal with emergency spills or cleaning of all areas. Cleaning of offices, meeting and training rooms. To ensure cleaning substances are prepared, used and stored safely. To replenish stock in all company’s toilets, restrooms and PPE stations. To report any maintenance issues or safety hazards. To use and operate cleaning equipment. Working in hygienic conditions using hairnets and gloves.
Qualifications and skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, time management and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods.
- Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
- Understanding the use of cleaning substances and following COSHH procedures.
- Ability to communicate well and follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
- Must be a good team player.
- Good understanding and application of Manual Handling principles is required.
- Good understanding of and compliance with all Food Safety and Health and Safety rules of the company.
