Are you an experienced QHSE professional with strong leadership capability, looking to take ownership of quality, health, safety and environmental performance at site level? We are looking for a QHSE Advisor to lead and continuously improve QHSE performance at our Widnes Biomass CHP Plant, supporting BWSC’s ambition to deliver Ever Better Energy.
What will you do
Reporting into the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of all Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of the plant. You will foster an operating culture that supports maximum plant reliability, flexibility and availability, while consistently achieving high standards of QHSE performance and regulatory compliance. You will act as a visible, site-based leader, working closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to embed standards, challenge unsafe behaviours, and ensure QHSE expectations are clearly understood and applied across employees and contractors.
Responsibilities include:
- Promote and drive site QHSE KPIs and performance improvement
- Act as the site focal point for compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation
- Lead incident investigations and ensure effective learning and corrective actions
- Ensure environmental permit compliance, through sampling and reporting
- Interface with regulators and support audits and inspections
- Maintain and improve ISO-aligned QHSE management systems
- Strengthen Management of Change and Lessons Learned processes
- Support Operations and Maintenance teams with strong on-plant leadership
- Provide accurate QHSE reporting to site and corporate stakeholders
What do you bring to the field
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) preferred
- Experience in regulated industrial environments (power generation, biomass, EfW or heavy industry)
- Strong understanding of environmental permitting and compliance
- Experience working within ISO management systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
