The predicted salary is between 37000 - 57000 £ per year.
We have an exciting new opportunity for a VAT Assistant Manager to join our Tax team at EG Group. As the business continues to expand and grow, so does the requirement for additional tax submissions across all territories. The VAT team in Blackburn currently prepares, reviews and submits VAT returns in 7 jurisdictions, as well as other statistical submissions such as Intrastat and EC Sales Lists.
Reporting directly to the VAT Director, you will be responsible for preparing and submitting VAT returns and ECSLs for specific territories. This will involve working with the country finance teams to improve processes and accuracy of data. This role will also include working closely with the VAT Managers and Director to provide ad-hoc support on other non-compliance Indirect Tax matters.
This role doesn’t require formal tax qualifications, but a solid understanding of VAT, VAT compliance, and strong Excel skills are essential. SAP knowledge and experience in process improvement or complex data analysis are also beneficial. You’ll gain broad tax experience in an international, dynamic environment, with opportunities to deepen your tax expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare and submit VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat returns

Conduct thorough reconciliations of VAT-related accounts and transactions, identifying discrepancies and ensuring all figures are accurate and aligned with financial records.

Cultivate strong relationships with key finance personnel across the business to facilitate effective communication and collaboration, enhancing the overall efficiency of VAT processes.

Partner with finance teams to analyse existing processes and implement improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in VAT reporting and submissions.

Provide support during VAT audits by preparing necessary documentation, responding to queries from auditors, and ensuring that all relevant information is readily available for review.

Experience in preparing and submitting VAT returns
