About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and proactive IT Infrastructure Engineer to join EG Group’s IT team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our systems. You’ll act as a critical escalation point for the support teams, tackling complex technical challenges and driving improvements across the IT environment. You’ll collaborate closely with the Infrastructure Manager and wider IT teams to implement solutions, enhance processes, and maintain business continuity. What you’ll be doing
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager to plan, implement, and document changes to IT infrastructure in a structured and controlled manner.
- Support the testing, review, and ongoing enhancement of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
- Act as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues efficiently.
- Monitor system alerts and take timely action to maintain service availability and performance.
- Provide support to the IT Service Desk, offering guidance and expertise on infrastructure-related issues.
- Identify opportunities across the organisation to improve and optimise IT infrastructure, processes, and systems.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation, including standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and knowledge base articles.

What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background and hands‑on experience with most of the following:
- Scripting or automation skills, such as PowerShell
- Hypervisor technologies (Hyper-V, AHV, or equivalent)
- Windows Server (2008–2025) and Windows 10/11
- Active Directory administration
- Veeam Backup (desired but not essential; experience with alternative backup solutions will also be considered)
- Networking fundamentals, including LAN, IPv4, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, Managed Switches, and VLANs
- Linux/Unix administration experience (desired but not essential)
In addition, we’re looking for someone who:
- Thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic IT environment and can manage multiple priorities effectively
- Has strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, solution‑oriented approach
- Communicates clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
