Job Description

Academy GK Coach (Casual)

Location: The County Ground, with the abilities to travel to other training facilities

Reports to: Academy Head of Coach Development & Academy Head of Player Development

Casual Contract - 1-2 evening sessions per week plus regular Saturday fixtures (working across YDP age groups to support the current GK coaching program)

Salary: Sessional Pay

Overall purpose of the job

Support the coaching department with football and holistic development of the goalkeepers within a specific age group or cell, and support age group sessions & fixtures where appropriate.

Responsible for the planning and implementation of individual learning plans in line with club coaching and playing philosophy.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Personal Development

Undertake self-development to ensure knowledge in relation to all aspect of your role is up-to-date and forward thinking:

  • Complete FA CPD as required to keep your FAN/Licence up to date
  • Complete club CPD and qualifications as part of your on-going development action plan

Coaching Curriculum, Playing and Coaching Philosophy

  • Ensure the academy’s coaching curriculum is consistently delivered in line with the academy’s playing philosophy and coaching philosophy
  • Design and implement age-appropriate sessions that provide maximal opportunity for players to practice, develop and learn.

Games Programme

  • Co-coach on match days
Individual Learning Plan Design and Delivery
  • Design practices that allow players to practice their IDP’s
Feedback
  • Provide regular updates to the cell lead/phase lead to support the MDT review process
Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and to assist the Academy Director.

Qualifications

  • UEFA B GK Coaching Licence (E)
  • UEFA B Coaching Licence (E)
  • The FA Youth Award (E)
  • FA Advanced Youth Award (E)
  • Safeguarding and Protecting Children (E)
  • Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAIF) (E)

Experience

Minimum 1 years of experience in one or more of the following roles :

  • Football coaching role
  • A mentoring/coaching role

Knowledge and/or experience of at least 1 of the following:

  • The process of learning in young people (pedagogy)
  • Running and designing development programmes
  • Football (coached or played at a high level)
  • Sport Psychology

Have ICT experience of FIP, excel, word and any other software as required in order to carry out the duties required for the job.
