Location: The County Ground with the abilities to travel to other training facilities

Reports to: Academy Head of Education

Fixed Term Contract: 9 hours per week

Salary: Hourly Rate £20 per hour

Overall purpose of the job

Offer inspirational education opportunities that support high achievement in the classroom, empowering learners to pursue their aspirations, to push boundaries in a safe, enjoyable, and demanding environment. Additional Learning Support Tutors provide direct support of learning to individual learners, over and above that which is normally provided to support the apprentices achieve their educational goals alongside their athletic progress.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide Additional Learning Support as agreed by the LFE Regional Officer, the BTEC Tutor and the Head of Education at the Club
  • Ensure apprentices’ safety and well-being during the sessions
  • Contribute towards the progress review process by completing and uploading onto LFE’s EMS system by the deadline date agreed with the relevant LFE Regional Officer
  • Communicate effectively with apprentices to enable them to understand and participate in learning activities
  • Use appropriate support strategies for working with groups and/or with individual learners to maximise learning opportunities
  • Support learners to make best use of provision by encouraging them to meet course and/or organisational requirements in terms of punctuality, attendance and behaviour
  • Contribute to and attend apprentice reviews as required
  • Explain tasks and ideas clearly to apprentices
  • Scribe, read, translate or interpret learning materials in a classroom situation or during informal/formal assessments
  • Such other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and to assist the Academy Head of Education

About The Candidate

Qualifications

  • Minimum of level 2 in English and Maths
  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable)
  • Level 2 in ICT or equivalent (desirable)

Experience

  • Minimum experience in the following roles: Experience of working in schools and/or colleges in a Learning Support role
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Working with and engaging with teams from different departments
