As the First Team Performance Analyst, you will play a key role within
Sheffield Wednesday’s high-performance environment, reporting directly to
the Head of First Team Performance Analysis. You will be responsible for
delivering innovative, insight-led video and data analysis that enhances the
Club’s understanding and application of its game model. Working closely
with the coaching and performance staff, you will provide detailed,
actionable intelligence on upcoming opposition, while using analysis to
drive individual player development and maximise team performance. The
successful candidate will be expected to continually challenge and evolve
our analysis processes, technologies and methodologies to ensure Sheffield
Wednesday operate at the highest possible performance standard.
Main Duties:
• To work with the First Team Manager and coaching staff to ensure that the
game is seen through the same lens and then analysed to give this vision.
• Use Data and Video to analyse and find trends to identify/assist in a match
plan for the upcoming opposition.
• Deliver pre match, live and post-match analysis; liaising with the First Team
coaching staff to ensure all analytical insights are provided.
• To build and databases, using both data and video; based on our
opponents – looking for trends and themes across the division. For example,
goals, set plays and style of play.
• Build best practise databases of elite players, using similar trends and tactics
as SWFC philosophy/game model.
• Ensure pre-match analysis of all First Team matches are carried out to the
highest standard using all available resources to produce match insights of
the First Team Staff and any other relevant members of staff.
• Ensure the back up of all live match and post-match analysis presentations
and documentation to designated storage devices, ensuring these are
always kept up to date.
• To ensure own CPD is up to date, looking for ways to improve skill set and
personal development.
• Any other such duties as reasonably assigned by First Team staff
• Adhere to SWFC policies and procedures at all times i.e. H&S. Code of
Conduct, ICT social media.
• Adhere to Safeguarding practices including the reporting of concerns to the
Designated Safeguarding Officer.
• To support a culture that treats everyone fairly and with respect in line with
the Clubs EDI commitment statement.
• To professionally represent SWFC at all times.
About The Candidate
- Master’s degree in Performance Analysis or similar
- UEFA B coaching License
- A minimum of 3/4 years’ experience as a performance analysis role within a football team environment at an elite level.
- Exceptional level on Analysis software i.e HUDL Sportscode, Studio, HUDL, INSIGHTS.
- Good understanding the use of data ( OPTA, Statsbomb) .
- Good communications skills
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Discretion and trustworthiness related to sensitive club related material.
- Must be able to handle confidential, privileged and /or sensitive information carefully and with sensitivity.
