London | WealthTech | Operations, Risk & Systems Leadership
This is not a back-office processing role. This is a mission-critical leadership position at the heart of a fast-scaling WealthTech business transforming the way affluent clients engage with their wealth. We’re looking for a high-performance operator who thrives under pressure, owns outcomes end-to-end, and can combine operational excellence with strategic systems thinking. Someone who can lead from the front, enforce standards without compromise, and build scalable infrastructure that supports rapid growth.
You’ll sit at the intersection of Operations, Product and Executive Leadership — driving execution, reducing operational risk, improving systems, and ensuring the business can scale without sacrificing quality or regulatory integrity.
The Opportunity
As Central Operations Lead, you will own the engine room of the business. You’ll lead critical operational workflows including trade execution, portfolio rebalancing, transfers, reconciliations, billing and custody operations — while simultaneously helping architect the systems, controls and operating models that underpin long-term growth. This role requires someone commercially aware, technically credible and operationally relentless. You’ll be trusted to challenge stakeholders, solve complex problems, manage risk proactively, and lead teams through clarity, structure and high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Trade Execution
- Lead complex client advice execution across trading, FX, transfers and portfolio activity
- Oversee reconciliations, trade verification and operational controls
- Manage portfolio rebalancing workflows with precision and regulatory accuracy
- Act as senior escalation point for trading and operational incidents
- Own invoicing, custody collections and payment processes
- Manage wrappers including SIPPs and GIAs through to compliant completion
- Act as authorised signatory for client withdrawals and payments
- Systems, Process & Risk
- Drive operational scalability through automation and process optimisation
- Partner with Product and Client teams to improve systems and reduce friction
- Build robust operational frameworks and scalable Target Operating Models
- Identify operational and regulatory risks before they become issues
- Lead operational implementation of new products and business initiatives
- Enforce governance standards and operational boundaries across the business
- Commercial & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with platforms, brokers and third-party providers
- Support commercial negotiations and strategic partnerships
- Develop data-led business cases for new operational partnerships
- Influence internal stakeholders at all levels including senior leadership
- Leadership & Incident Management
- Lead, mentor and develop Analysts and Associates
- Drive high-performance standards and operational accountability
- Support hiring and interview processes for operational talent
- Lead operational incident response and issue resolution
- Deliver cross-functional operational training and knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years’ experience within Wealth Management, Investment Operations or Financial Services
- Strong background in client dealing, trading operations or platform operations
- IMC qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience working within regulated investment environments
Personal Profile
- Exceptionally detail-oriented with uncompromising standards
- Calm and decisive under pressure
- Highly proactive with genuine ownership mentality
- Strong communicator capable of translating technical complexity into commercial insight
- Comfortable challenging stakeholders to protect operational integrity
- Analytical, systems-minded and process-driven
- Experienced leading teams and driving operational change
- Commercially aware with strong third-party relationship management skills
Why Apply?
- Join a fast-growing WealthTech business in a genuinely impactful role
- Significant exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
- Opportunity to shape operational infrastructure at scale
- High-autonomy environment with real ownership
- Private healthcare and wellbeing support
- 25 days holiday plus strong work-life balance culture
- Collaborative, modern London office environment
- Professional development support and long-term progression opportunities
