A high-performance systematic hedge fund is seeking an Infrastructure Operations Engineer (Linux Admin) to help maintain and evolve the global Linux estate that underpins all trading and research activity. This team is responsible for ensuring the firm’s large-scale compute environment remains stable, well-maintained, and ready to support continuous growth across quant, trading, and data engineering functions.
You’ll work across server deployments, Linux administration, hardware lifecycle, automation, and platform improvements - collaborating closely with engineering, EUC, and application teams. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys Linux admin and automation work within a highly technical environment.
Role Overview- Ensure the health, stability, and performance of the firm’s global Linux platform across trading and research workloads.
- Deploy new Linux servers and manage full end-to-end build processes from hardware provisioning through OS installation.
- Carry out system upgrades, patching, and platform maintenance across Red Hat-based environments.
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and deployment initiatives using modern tooling.
- Work closely with EUC, application, and engineering teams on both project delivery and operational support.
- Produce and maintain clear documentation to support consistency and repeatability across the estate.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as part of a global operational team.
- Strong hands-on Linux administration experience (Red Hat, CentOS, or similar).
- Full server build capability - from hardware provisioning to OS installation and configuration.
- Understanding of AMD/Intel server hardware and common failure types.
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, LAN/WAN concepts).
- Experience with automation tooling, ideally Ansible.
- Scripting familiarity (Bash or Python) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Bonus: Experience with storage technologies such as NFS or SAN environments.
