We are working with a macro fixed income hedge fund that is looking to hire a data scientist to undertake a range of activities as part of their nimble economic research team in London. You will focus on analysing complex alternative data and turning this into actionable insight that uncovers trends and informs decision-making. In this role, you will work with a wide range of stakeholders including those in the front office, such as PMs, quants and economists.

Alongside the outlined tasks, you will also be supporting the economists in producing thematic research and strategic insights and constructing a range of tools, dashboards, internal visualisations and pipelines. The fund is a high performing group that enjoys a strong track record and low staff turnover. The fund takes a collaborative, research/analysis driven approach across the investment process. There will be a large degree of autonomy in how you explore, extract, and interpret data. You will own the full analytical and modelling lifecycle. Therefore, this is a good opportunity for a self-starting, highly numerate individual keen to move into a highly collaborative hedge fund.

The role will be part of one of the very best macro fixed income teams on the street in a role with significant involvement in building out the spine of the business from the ground up.

Requirements:
  • 1-3 years’ experience within data science working with large, complex datasets and data analysis tools
  • Solid grounding in statistics, econometrics or applied mathematics
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a mathematical, statistical, or other highly relevant field
  • Strong programming skills in the Python Scientific Stack
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and can-do attitude
  • Operating within a small, highly dynamic team (preferable)

Due to demand, we are advertising this role anonymously. If you would prefer to speak to someone before submitting a CV, please send a blank application to the role and someone will be in touch to discuss. We can only respond to highly qualified candidates.
