We are a diverse company by design. We work collaboratively, share ideas and challenge conventional thinking. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the next phase of eFinancialCareers, helping us strengthen our marketplace through better use of data, insight and automation.
We're looking for a CRM Data & Automation Engineer to own both the technical backbone and the automated performance of eFC's CRM ecosystem. You'll sit at the intersection of growth marketing, data engineering and product - the technical architect who ensures our candidates' journeys are deeply personalised, seamlessly integrated and built to scale. This is a hands‑on role split roughly 60/40: the majority of your time will go into building, launching and optimising sophisticated multi-channel lifecycle automation (Email, Push, In-App) that drives engagement, conversion and retention. The remainder is spent owning the data flows and integrations that power those journeys - mapping schemas, configuring APIs/webhooks and partnering with Data Engineering to keep everything in sync.
If you love clean data pipelines, sophisticated growth automation and getting into the technical weeds of a modern MarTech stack, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities- Build & Scale Lifecycle Automation (~60%): Architect, launch and continuously optimise multi-channel user journeys (Email, Push, In-App) that drive engagement, conversion and retention, including robust A/B testing and segmentation frameworks. Design, launch, and continuously optimise automated candidate journeys and job alert triggers to drive platform retention and conversion.
- Own Data Flows & Integrations (~40%): Own the flow of user data in and out of the CRM platform. Configure webhooks, manage API-driven triggers and partner with Data Engineering and web development to ensure user traits and events sync flawlessly.
- Maintain Transactional Systems: Take full ownership of our transactional and triggered messaging infrastructure to guarantee near-instant delivery, high visibility and reliable performance.
- Data Hygiene & Deliverability: Manage list integrity, audience suppression logic and email deliverability standards (SPF/DKIM/DMARC, IP warming) alongside privacy compliance (GDPR, PECR).
- Shape the MarTech Stack: Evaluate, integrate and implement new tools (e.g. CDPs, Reverse-ETL) to future-proof eFC's growth marketing infrastructure.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with data engineers, product managers and copywriters to turn business goals into high-performing, technically sound automation.
- The Hybrid Mindset: You possess a blend of technical data‑engineering logic and growth‑marketing curiosity. You care about clean code and conversion rates in equal measure.
- Platform Expertise: You are fluent in advanced CRM/lifecycle platforms and know how to use their developer features. Experience with Bird CRM and Sparkpost is a distinct advantage.
- Technical Chops: Comfortable writing SQL for data querying and segmentation, and working with REST APIs and webhooks for integrations. Familiarity with HTML/CSS for email formatting as well as templating languages (like Liquid or Handlebars) for personalisation is a plus.
- Data Savvy: You understand relational databases, event-driven architecture and how data schemas impact marketing automation. Experience with CDPs (like Segment) is a bonus.
- Analytical Problem Solver: You love diagnosing data discrepancies, optimising deliverability and building scalable automation frameworks that don't break - and you look past open rates to measure true business impact.
We operate a highly personalised, data-driven ecosystem. In this role, you'll be working directly with:
- Data Infrastructure: AWS hosted, with Amazon Redshift serving as our central data warehouse.
- CRM & Automation Engine: Bird CRM for managing our candidates' lifecycles, orchestration and automation.
- Delivery & Infrastructure: Sparkpost for enterprise-grade email delivery and transactional messaging.
- Proprietary Tech: Our in-house, proprietary Jobseeker Matching Engine - you'll play a key role in managing how data flows from this matching engine into Sparkpost to deliver hyper-targeted, real-time alerts to our users.
- Education: BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Marketing Technology or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in a highly technical CRM, data or growth marketing role will also be considered.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience managing CRM or lifecycle marketing platforms (e.g. Braze, Iterable, Bird CRM, Customer.io) in a hands‑on, technical capacity. Solid working experience writing SQL for segmentation/querying and integrating systems via REST APIs and webhooks. Experience with email deliverability standards (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) and data privacy compliance (GDPR) is highly desirable. Background in a digital‑first, subscription or marketplace environment is a plus.
- We reward personal responsibility with a package that reflects it - competitive salary, pension, private medical insurance, wellbeing subsidies and generous time off to rest and recharge.
- A culture of transparency, where good work is seen and celebrated.
- Modern tools and tech to set you up for success.
- Flexible, hybrid working from the UK.
