We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join a well-established and growing built-environment, property and construction consultancy, working out of the Southampton office. This is a client-side focused Construction Project Management position, working across a varied portfolio of construction projects throughout the UK. You will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with clients, design teams, contractors and other key stakeholders.
The role would suit an experienced Project Manager with a background in construction consultancy and/or client-side project management who is looking for a varied position with excellent opportunities for long-term career development.
The Role
- Managing the day-to-day delivery of construction projects
- Managing projects through pre-construction and post-construction stages
- Coordinating and managing design teams
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients
- Managing client accounts and maintaining strong working relationships
- Managing contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders
- Carrying out contract administration
- Preparing and maintaining key project documentation and processes
- Monitoring project programmes and ensuring key deadlines are achieved
- Providing regular progress reports and updates to clients
- Identifying and managing project risks
- Contributing to value management and value engineering exercises
- Managing projects involving multiple stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, timescale and client expectations
What We're Looking For
You should have previous Project Management experience within the construction industry, ideally gained within a consultancy or client-side environment. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Construction Project Manager or similar position
- Experience working within a construction/property consultancy and/or client-side organisation
- Strong knowledge of pre-construction and post-construction project delivery
- Experience administering construction contracts
- Experience managing design teams, contractors and consultants
- Strong client-facing experience
- Experience within commercial, retail and/or leisure construction
- Experience working within multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience managing or mentoring junior members of staff
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Good commercial awareness
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Higher education qualification
- A degree in Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
