Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well - established and growing building services company, covering the London area.

This is a hands‑on position carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical building services and M&E systems. You'll be responsible for fault finding, servicing and maintaining mechanical plant while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
  • Servicing and maintaining mechanical plant and building services equipment
  • Fault finding and diagnosing mechanical issues
  • Servicing pumps and pressurisation units
  • Carrying out routine service inspections in accordance with PPM schedules
  • Responding to breakdowns and call-outs
  • Identifying faults and completing necessary remedial works
  • Producing reports and relevant certification
  • Completing and maintaining site logbooks
  • Ensuring work complies with Health & Safety requirements and risk assessments
  • Liaising with customers and tenants while on site
  • Supporting small works and projects where required
  • Minimising repeat visits through effective fault diagnosis and repair

What We're Looking For

You should have previous experience working within mechanical building services, facilities management or an M&E maintenance environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications
  • Experience maintaining mechanical M&E systems
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance
  • Experience servicing pumps and pressurisation units
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility to undertake occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
