The Opportunity
As Solar PV Design Manager, you’ll take ownership of the design function, overseeing project quality while managing and developing a small team of designers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring all systems are designed to the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, while also supporting, mentoring, and guiding your team to deliver consistently excellent results.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of Solar PV Designers to deliver high-quality outputs
- Reviewing site surveys and overseeing the production of accurate system designs using Easy PV and CAD software
- Conducting and supporting virtual surveys with customers, identifying potential risks and installation challenges
- Carrying out and reviewing structural assessments
- Overseeing the production of wiring diagrams for solar PV and battery storage systems
- Acting as a point of escalation for complex designs and technical queries
- Ensuring all work meets compliance standards (OFGEM, BEIS, MCS) and internal quality benchmarks
- Managing workloads, prioritising tasks, and ensuring deadlines are consistently met
- Maintaining excellent customer communication standards across the team
- Driving continuous improvement, training, and development within the design function
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in Solar PV design or similar technical field
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role, with line management responsibility preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others
- Solid IT skills, including Microsoft Word and design software
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong work ethic
- A genuine passion for renewable energy and sustainability
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Easy PV or similar solar design software
- CAD design experience
- Electrical design background
- Relevant renewable energy qualifications or certifications
