Salary: £32,597 – £36,363 per annum. We also have an excellent defined benefit pension scheme.

The Technical Officer plays an integral role within a local grants area office in the delivery of technical aspects of applications for a suite of funding schemes across the private housing sector. These schemes are aimed at improving housing standards, improving energy efficiency and reducing fuel poverty and enabling persons with a disability to live as independently as possible and to remain in their own home.

The essential criteria are detailed in the Candidate Information Pack.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Either
  • i) Possess a degree or an equivalent level qualification (Level 6*) in Building Studies or other relevant construction related subject and can demonstrate 1 years relevant experience (Please include dates)

OR

  • ii) Possess a BTECH higher or equivalent level qualification (Level 5*) in Building Studies or other relevant construction related subject and can demonstrate 2 years’ relevant experience. (Please include dates)

OR

  • iii) Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development / experiential learning and can demonstrate at least 3 years’ relevant experience. (Please include dates)

It will be the responsibility of the applicant to demonstrate equivalency. Relevancy will be determined with due regard to the duties and level of responsibilities set out in the job description for this role.

  1. For the purposes of shortlisting, applicants must demonstrate their relevant experience for the number of years required, depending on their level of qualification, in at least 3 of the following 5 areas:
  • A) Experience in carrying out inspections or surveys of domestic properties to identify defects or energy efficiency improvements and recommend solutions with associated costs.

B) Experience of preparing basic plans / drawings following onsite surveys.

  • C) Experience of inspecting completed work to ensure it meets satisfactory quality standards which comply with current statutory requirements (eg. Building Control etc.).
  • D) Experience in using I.T. systems / mobile devices to carry out all technical duties and communication.
  • E) Experience in using an approved Schedule of Rates.
  • 4. Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.

Desirable Criteria

  • Gas Safe: CCN1
  • Oftec: 101, 105 & 600
  • City & Guilds Energy Awareness
