About the Opportunity

Picture More has been exclusively retained by a hyper-growth leader in the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure software space to appoint their first Director of Solution Engineering. Our client powers the software backbone for operators, drivers, and global businesses, managing over 100 enterprise clients and 280,000+ charge points. As their enterprise pipeline shifts toward €1M+ ACV pursuits with major automotive groups and tier-one utilities, they need a heavyweight technical leader to build a world-class Solution Engineering function from scratch. This is a strategic "builder" role for someone who already knows what a high-performing enterprise pre- and post-sales playbook looks like and can execute it immediately.

What Youll Own

  • The Enterprise Playbook: Design, document, and scale the frameworks for discovery, demo standards, POC methodology, technical RFPs, and migration architecture templates.
  • Team Construction: Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-calibre team of Pre-Sales Solution Engineers and Post-Sales Solution Architects in year one.
  • Strategic Deal Execution: Act as the personal technical closer on all high-value pursuits above €500K ACV, serving as the credible counterpart to customer CTOs, CIOs, and Heads of Engineering.
  • Complex Solution Architecture: Design bespoke integrations and financial data flows. Our client is a licensed Electronic Money Institution (EMI), meaning complex monetary flow design is key to closing large deals.
  • AI-First Automation: Embed AI tooling (Claude/ChatGPT) across the function as the default approach to scale RFP drafting, demo preparation, and discovery summarisation.
  • Cross-Functional Feedback: Drive structural product requirements from the field straight back to Product and Engineering with data-backed business cases attached.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned pre- and post-sales technical leader who thrives on building rather than maintaining. You are equally comfortable architecting a multi-party integration on a whiteboard for a C-suite client as you are managing a scaling team and implementing AI-driven workflows.

What We Are Looking For

  • Leadership Experience: 8+ years in B2B SaaS Solution Engineering, including 4+ years building and leading the function.
  • The Playbook: A proven track record of creating repeatable frameworks for enterprise discovery, POCs, RFPs, and complex migrations.
  • Technical & FinTech Depth: A strong technical foundation (APIs, reference architectures) coupled with experience in regulated marketplaces, PSP/EMI environments, or complex payment flows.
  • Commercial Comfort: Strategic alignment with Sales teams, including experience sitting through QBRs and navigating 12-24 month enterprise deal cycles.
  • AI & Automation Fluency: Hands-on experience embedding AI tools into daily SE workflows to maximize output.
  • Nice to Haves: Experience at Series B scale, scaling functions across multiple European markets, or a background in energy, utilities, or fleet SaaS.

What Sits Outside This Role

To keep you focused, direct pipeline quota ownership, post-sales project implementation, product roadmap final decisions, and marketing education remain with their respective departments.
