EFAB Resourcing are recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer who can provide strong, hands-on piping engineering across studies, FEED and detailed design. The role involves taking ownership of work packs, supporting the Lead Mechanical and Piping Engineer, and ensuring that piping designs are safe, buildable and compliant with EFAB procedures, client specifications and relevant codes. The engineer will also support and mentor more junior engineers and designers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review piping layouts, GAs and isometrics, working closely with piping designers and the 3D model coordinator.
  • Define stress critical lines and undertake piping stress analysis using AutoPIPE, including support load extraction and coordination with civil/structural on support design.
  • Support development of materials and fabrication specs (pipe, fittings, valves, gaskets, supports, insulation, painting/coating) in line with service conditions and client standards.
  • Participate in model reviews, design reviews and HAZOPs; record and close out actions relating to the piping discipline.
  • Contribute to site surveys (including laser scan reviews), constructability reviews and resolution of site technical queries.
  • Interface with suppliers (RFQs, technical clarifications) and provide piping input to technical bid evaluations when required.
  • Work to agreed scopes, CTRs and schedules, highlighting changes and risks.

Standards, Safety & Quality

  • Apply relevant piping and pressure system codes (typically ASME B31.3, B31.8/ EN 13480, and others as applicable) and client specifications under the guidance of the Lead/Principal.
  • Be aware of PED/UKCA, PSSR and ATEX/UKEX obligations and design accordingly, following EFAB procedures and project quality plans.
  • Embed safe-by-design and constructability principles (access, lifting, maintenance, isolation and draining) into piping layouts and details.

Tools & Systems

  • Stress analysis: AutoPIPE (preferred), with experience of CAESAR II for review/legacy models.
  • CAD/3D: AutoCAD and Plant 3D / Navisworks (or equivalent), including working in 3D model reviews and with point clouds where available.
  • Microsoft Office and document management systems.
