We’re looking for an experienced Workface Planner / Project Engineer to support the planning and delivery of fabrication and construction works on major projects across the UK. You’ll be responsible for preparing work packs, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring work is planned safely, efficiently and in line with programme and commercial requirements. This is a site-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to construction activities and working collaboratively with multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and sequence construction and fabrication activities to maximise productivity
  • Prepare detailed work packs for site execution
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Planning, Procurement and Project Controls
  • Assist with design development and review of engineering drawings
  • Carry out site surveys and as-built measurements
  • Support project reporting on cost, progress and programme
  • Identify and communicate risks, opportunities and potential commercial impacts
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Manage subcontractor work packages where required

Requirements

  • Engineering background with experience in construction or fabrication projects
  • Strong understanding of workface planning principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, isometrics, layouts, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of project controls, schedules and work packs
  • WeldTrace experience – preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with site teams and management
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel to UK project sites

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards (desirable)
  • Experience working on EPC / EPCM style projects is advantageous
