We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Engineering Shift Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our chemical manufacturing plant, where we produce the active ingredient for a key pharmaceutical product. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, covering both mechanical and electrical maintenance to maximise equipment uptime and ensure compliance with safety, engineering, and GMP standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Engineering Support
- Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and statutory inspections on process equipment, utilities, and site infrastructure.
- Execute corrective maintenance, fault-finding, and component replacements across a wide range of equipment, including pumps, valves, mixers, instrumentation, motors, control systems, and building services.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with GMP, engineering standards, H&S legislation, and site procedures.
- Ensure equipment is maintained to remain safe, compliant, and fully operational, particularly in a regulated chemical/pharmaceutical setting.
- Participate in safety leadership tours, report hazards, and proactively promote high EHS, engineering, and GMP standards.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, maintenance records, and CMMS updates (Maximo experience beneficial).
- Support small engineering upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with major site projects, equipment installations, and commissioning where required.
Key Requirements
- Technical Experience
- Time-served or formally qualified Multi‑Skilled Engineer (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, or other process-driven industries is advantageous.
- Ability to diagnose faults using both mechanical and electrical principles.
- Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer—qualified by apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience.
- Mechanical and/or electrical engineering certifications.
- NEBOSH or other safety qualifications desirable.
- Evidence of experience within chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated process environments.
- 2 rotating shifts:
- 06:00–14:00
- 14:00–22:00
- x1.5 Saturday
- x2 Sunday
