We are looking for an Engineering Shift Technician to support the safe and efficient running of our Chemical Plant, which manufactures the active ingredient for a key pharmaceutical product. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, support production uptime, and ensure compliance with safety and GMP standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond quickly to engineering breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with statutory and GMP requirements.
- Ensure equipment, building services and infrastructure remain safe, compliant and operational.
- Work closely with production teams to plan maintenance around equipment availability.
- Support service contractors and ensure all work follows risk assessments and method statements.
- Identify root causes of equipment issues and deliver long-term solutions.
- Participate in safety leadership tours and promote high EHS standards.
- Support small capital projects and assist with major project delivery when required.
Key Requirements
- Qualified maintenance engineer (via qualifications or extensive experience).
- Experience in an engineering/maintenance role—pharmaceutical, chemical or similar industries preferred.
- Understanding of GMP, MHRA/FDA standards, and H&S systems (NEBOSH beneficial).
- Experience working with chemical manufacturing equipment is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with staff at all levels.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, planning tools). Experience with Maximo/Trackwise is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and a proactive approach.
- Strong teamwork and leadership qualities with a focus on service excellence.
Qualifications
- Qualified maintenance engineer – either through formal qualification or length/breadth of experience.
- Line management experience in same/similar environment.
- Experience in an engineering discipline ideally within the pharmaceutical/healthcare/chemical industry.
- Knowledge and application of relevant regulatory standards – MHRA/FDA, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO9001 standards – NEBOSH qualification an advantage.
- Knowledge and understanding of chemical manufacturing operations advantageous.
