About the Role

We are seeking a Regulatory Planning Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in delivering Essar’s energy transition projects. As Regulatory Planning Manager you’ll lead the planning and consent process for major infrastructure development projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with UK planning regulations and delivering successful project outcomes within agreed timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of planning and consent for infrastructure projects.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and community groups.
  • Ensure compliance with UK planning legislation, including the Town and Country Planning Act and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop innovative planning strategies aligned with sustainability and company objectives.
  • Monitor and track planning applications that may impact operations or proposed developments.

  • Approval success of planning applications.
  • Compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Adherence to project timelines and budgets.

About You

You are an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of UK planning regulations and a proven ability to navigate complex consent processes. You combine technical expertise with exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Proven track record in managing complex planning applications and securing consents.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning regulations, including NPPF and Town and Country Planning Act.
  • Experience with Development Consent Orders for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainability practices.

Desirable

  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or credible plan to achieve within 18 months).
