Eequ is a mission‑led tech company powering booking infrastructure for council‑funded activity programmes across the UK. Our platform supports programmes for underserved children, families and communities. We now work with around 75 councils and have built a warm, active, nationally significant community of local authorities working together as one agile team.
Your starting focus will be councils: relationships, renewals, procurement admin and commercial growth. You will work in close sync with one other associate and the founder. In practice you will take over work currently sitting with the CEO: managing important council relationships, moving procurement forward, preparing information, writing sharp emails, handling invoicing and contracts, supporting strategic conversations, and finding new councils and programmes who should be using Eequ but are not yet.
What you’ll actually do:
- Training and supporting council partners
- Helping councils understand Eequ, the software, the community and the value
- Supporting renewals, procurement, compliance checks and G‑Cloud administration
- Preparing clear written responses for tenders, security questionnaires and procurement conversations
- Handling operational admin with serious diligence: invoicing, follow‑ups, records, trackers, contracts and internal coordination
- Joining and eventually leading council calls with confidence and warmth
- Learning the Eequ platform inside out so you can speak about it fluently in any conversation
- Spotting expansion opportunities across council‑funded activity programmes
- Using AI constantly to multiply your output, improve admin quality, draft, research, summarise, structure and move faster
- Working across Attio, Intercom, Google Workspace, Slack and Linear
- Turning repeated questions and messy workflows into better systems
Who this is for:
Traditionally we would be hiring for someone with a background in public procurement or enterprise software partners. However, we are also interested in the person who has been underestimated. For the right self‑directed person, we offer mentorship and an environment of trust and autonomy.
Wildcards might be:
- You’re a recent grad who has been building things on the side, exploring your own ideas, or throwing yourself into real‑world projects outside your course.
- You know you are capable of more than most entry‑level jobs will allow.
- You proudly avoided uni and built a side hustle, community, event, campaign or commercial project from nothing.
- You’re a career break parent who has run a household like a mission‑critical logistics operation, who has not lost touch with their tech roots and is ready to boot up their me v2.0.
What you’ll need to be good at:
- You are charismatic and presentable. You can hold a conversation with senior people without becoming stiff or performative.
- You are warm, direct, down to earth and credible.
- You are also a very diligent administrator. You do not leave loose ends. You follow up. You keep records. You can manage complexity.
- You are highly verbally fluent. You can explain a product clearly, write a thoughtful email, lead a call, ask a good question and think on your feet.
- You are confident with technology. AI is not something you occasionally try; it is your first instinct when you want to move faster, think deeper and structure work.
- You are commercially minded. You can build trust without being fake. You can sell without being oily. You can hear what a customer actually needs and connect it to what Eequ can do.
- You are hungry to learn. The real confidence in this role will come from understanding the software so well that you can walk into almost any conversation and know where the value is.
What this could become:
For the right person, this role could go almost anywhere. You may grow into senior partnerships, commercial leadership, chief of staff‑style work, commercial growth, or something we have not named yet. Your starting focus is council growth but the opportunity is much broader than that. You will be close to the founder, close to the software and close to the commercial engine of the company. That is a rare place to learn from.
Package:
- £30,000–£45,000 depending on experience and immediate leverage
- Performance bonus up to 10%
- Remote‑first, with Brighton office access if useful
- MacBook and equipment
- High autonomy
- Direct founder mentoring
- Small, ambitious, product‑led team
- Meaningful work with national social impact
