Why this job matters

The People & Culture Partner for the Consumer Strategy & Transformation team plays a pivotal role in shaping and enabling BT Consumer’s transformation agenda while providing leadership and oversight for the Consumer P&C team. This strategic role operates at the intersection of business strategy, operating model evolution, people delivery, and consumer P&C leadership.

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategy & Transformation and Consumer People & Culture Team Business Partnering (c.40% of time): Acts as the People & Culture partner to the Consumer Strategy & Transformation leadership team, building understanding of strategic priorities and commercial challenges. Translates strategy into people implications, shaping workforce plans and change activity.
  • Programme Delivery & CoE Interface (c.40% of time): Acts as the Consumer lead for priority People & Culture programs, taking accountability for leading key enterprise initiatives across Consumer Corporate Functions.
  • Organisational Effectiveness & Operating Model Evolution (c.20% of time): Leads organisational effectiveness across Consumer, owning the evolution of ways of working and diagnosing systemic barriers to performance.

Reporting to the People & Culture Director for Consumer Corporate Functions, the role provides the opportunity to influence how BT Consumer evolves towards its target operating model, culture, and ways of working.

What You’ll Be Doing

In the first 30 days, you will:

  • Build a strong understanding of the Consumer strategy and transformation agenda.
  • Establish trusted relationships with key P&C stakeholders.
  • Develop strong business intimacy with the Consumer Strategy & Transformation leadership team.
  • Gain a clear view of the current Consumer target operating model.
  • Build credibility with senior stakeholders across Consumer.
  • Engage with Group P&C and Centres of Excellence.
  • Begin diagnosing organisational effectiveness using data and insights.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted thought partner.

In the First 60 Days, You Will:

  • Shape a clear people and organisation roadmap aligned to the Consumer strategy.
  • Drive organisational effectiveness, identifying systemic barriers.
  • Partner with leaders to assess the fitness of current structures.
  • Lead or support priority organisation design initiatives.
  • Act as the Consumer delivery lead for priority Group P&C programmes.
  • Frame clear problem statements where people or culture constrain progress.
  • Use early insight to deliver targeted interventions.

In the First 90 Days, You Will:

  • Be recognised as a trusted advisor to the Strategy & Transformation leadership team.
  • Establish a clear organisational effectiveness agenda.
  • Translate diagnostics into defined interventions.
  • Lead Consumer delivery of agreed enterprise P&C priorities.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen talent and succession pipelines.
  • Demonstrate early impact through improved clarity and decision-making.
