COMMIS CHEF – HYATT CENTRIC CAMBRIDGE

As a Commis Chef, you'll support the kitchen team in delivering high-quality dishes while developing your skills in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Working alongside experienced chefs, you'll help prepare and present food to consistently high standards, maintain a clean and organised kitchen, and play an important part in creating a great dining experience for our guests.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for food who is eager to learn, grow and build a successful career in hospitality.

THE STAGE IS SET

The stage is set for something different.

We don’t run conventional hotels; we build places with character and intent.

What began as a small UK aparthotel portfolio has grown into a European collection recognised for design and atmosphere - and we’re now entering a new chapter.

As we redefine the brand and evolve our identity, we’re focused on creating spaces that feel compelling, contemporary, and truly distinctive.

Locke leads with bold expression; Cove by Locke refines that same spirit into a quieter, more streamlined approach.

Guests come to rest, work, or escape.

Comfort is a given - great beds, hot showers, genuine service.

But we aim to create moments that feel memorable and a little unexpected, bringing back the sense of mood hospitality often lost.

  • THE WORK IN YOUR HANDS
  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes, ensuring every plate meets our standards.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and wider kitchen team to deliver smooth and efficient service.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen, ensuring equipment and storage areas are always service-ready.
  • Help manage stock, minimise food waste and take pride in maintaining an efficient kitchen.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, allergen and kitchen compliance procedures to the highest standards.
  • Adapt to the needs of the business, supporting events and working collaboratively across the hotel when required.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture while championing our brand standards and commitment to exceptional hospitality.

Naturally this is not intended as an exhaustive list of duties. Other duties as may be reasonably required will form part of this job description.

  • THE FIRE YOU CARRY
  • Passion for cooking and learning new culinary techniques
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of basic hygiene and food safety practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • YOUR PROVEN TRACK
  • Experience within a Hotel, Brasserie or Restaurant Kitchen is desirable, however on-job training will be provided
  • Basic culinary qualification or training is an advantage but not essential
  • WHAT WE LOOK FOR

We’re here to rethink what a modern lifestyle hotel can be.

That takes pace, creativity, and people who enjoy working with purpose.

If you’re comfortable with change, motivated by ideas, and focused on crafting meaningful guest experiences, you’ll do well here.

We value individuals who can hold a vision, appreciate atmosphere, and want their work to have impact.

Skills can be taught.

Mindset can’t.

There’s no single template for success here - just the right approach and willingness to grow.
