The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

As a Technical Writer, your mission is to produce and maintain support documentation for Clevedon-produced Edwards products, in accordance with the house style and to Edwards quality standards. The documentation includes, but is not limited to, upgrade and modification instructions, service installation and maintenance documentation, and final test and commissioning documentation, and is for the use of Edwards personnel worldwide, including Distributed Manufacturing sites globally. You will report to the Lead Technical Writer.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, research, write, and edit documents from conception to delivery to fulfil internal requirements, demonstrating a “right from me” approach.
  • Convey procedures in a consistent, clear, well‑structured way, using concise and accurate terminology to ensure understanding and to avoid confusion by the reader.
  • Create and manipulate images, either photographs or illustrations, to complement the text in documents.
  • Gather information by studying existing technical content, consulting with stakeholders and where necessary, interacting with the product directly, to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
  • Work with stakeholders to review, proof read and edit as necessary all documentation produced, to ensure complete accuracy of content and presentation prior to distribution.
  • Ensure that the documentation meets all requirements for compliance with industry and international standards and directives.

Qualifications

  • A degree, HNC/HND qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical or electromechanical engineering, or time served in forces or engineering apprenticeships.
  • At least three years technical experience in an engineering environment, writing test and/or service related procedures for complex products.
  • Experience in the use of Simplified Technical English (STE).
  • Extracting views from 3D models would be an advantage.
  • A good understanding of the Microsoft suite, especially Word and Sharepoint 365.
  • A good understanding of image manipulation tools, for example CorelDraw.
  • Able to accurately interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams and also data and instructions given by SMEs.

Job Location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on‑site at our office in Bristol, United Kingdom (GB).
