Overview
In this role you will deliver best-practice mechanical engineering for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, reporting to the Associate Principal Engineer.
You will steer technical delivery across subsystems, support mechanical engineering activities on projects, and promote governance for safety, quality, and reliability.
You will also help create and oversee work packages across cross-functional teams to reach milestones and volume production, while mentoring graduates and apprentices.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of mechanical engineering expertise to projects, including subsystems and technology developments
- Support mechanical engineering activities across applicable projects
- Advocate best-practice mechanical engineering to improve delivery against time, cost, quality and specification with proper governance for safety, compliance, quality and reliability
- Assist in creating and distributing work packages across cross-functional teams to drive milestones to completion and production
- Ensure product development mechanical design meets stakeholder requirements and regulatory standards by design
- Act as role model for graduates and apprentices, providing training and maintaining consistency and quality
- Key requirements
- Bachelor in Engineering (minimum) or demonstrable equivalent
- Desirable: Masters degree and registration with a recognised engineering institution
- Experience of design for x principles (manufacture, cost, assembly, maintainability)
- Willingness to undertake professional development
- Experience in mechanical engineering and design in a related industry (desirable)
- Experience and understanding of working in a regulated/compliance-driven industry (desirable) including semiconductor standards such as EN 61511 and SEMI S2; knowledge of safety and design review methods (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA)
- 3D and 2D CAD skills
- Ability to deliver to project milestones and timescales
- Ability to interpret requirements and translate into robust design solutions
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical design engineering best practice
