Your roleAs an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and steering the NPI technical roadmap. Reporting directly to the VP Engineering Dry Pumps, you will lead the development and execution of a technical roadmap that is closely aligned with our long-term strategic objectives in pump technology. Working collaboratively across engineering and programme teams, you will ensure strong alignment between technical direction and programme delivery, effectively balancing priorities, resources, and milestones to drive technical readiness and business outcomes.A key aspect of the role will be strengthening engineering capability across the UK GTC by building deep technical expertise and establishing a structured engineering rotation programme. This programme will enhance knowledge sharing, accelerate capability development, and increase technical depth across our global engineering centres in the UK, Cheonan (Korea), and Qingdao (China), supporting our strategic growth ambitions and future technology needs.Main responsibilities:β€’ Lead engineering teams with technical governance and decision-making authority across diverse disciplines including mechanical, electrical, software, motor, and controls systems, ensuring all aspects of pump technology development are cohesively integrated.β€’ Maintain continuous alignment between the technical roadmap and program pipeline, establishing clear priorities, managing dependencies, and guiding critical decision points to mitigate risk and expedite delivery.β€’ Translate market and customer requirements, reliability standards, manufacturing considerations, and cost constraints into an actionable and scalable engineering strategy that supports product differentiation and competitive advantage.β€’ Champion a culture of experimentation and disciplined innovation by encouraging early-stage prototyping, rapid iteration, and data-driven technical decisions aligned to strategic priorities.β€’ Enhance engineering capabilities across distributed teams through targeted talent development programs and rotational assignments, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning.β€’ Influence product portfolio and program decisions by articulating well-evaluated technical options, analyzing trade-offs, assessing risks, and escalating issues appropriately to senior leadership.β€’ Promote standardization, modular design, and component reuse across pump platforms to drive improvements in time-to-market, product quality, cost efficiency, serviceability, and sustainability.Above all, you will be an inspirational leader and mentor, dedicated to developing your team, nurturing talent, and embedding a strong engineering culture that embraces diversity, collaboration, and high performance. To succeed, you will needExperience and Knowledge:β€’ Experience in vacuum pump development, semiconductor equipment, or complex engineered products.β€’ Proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary engineering development across mechanical, electrical, software, motor, controls, and system-level domains.β€’ Experience creating and governing technical development roadmaps and aligning them with programme, product, and portfolio roadmaps.Deep understanding of:Pump architecture, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability trade-off Interfaces between mechanical systems, electronics, motors, controls, software, and diagnosticsNPI / stage-gate processes, technology readiness, risk management, and development failure modesExperience building engineering capability across global and matrix organisations, ideally including UK, Korea and China engineering teamsStrong appreciation of commercial drivers, product competitiveness, cost, sustainability, and customer value.Skills:β€’ Strong technical leadership with the ability to set direction and create followership across engineering teams.β€’ Ability to align technical and programme roadmaps in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.β€’ Strong influencing, constructive challenge, and decision-shaping capability at senior levels.β€’ Ability to develop engineering talent, build competencies, and raise technical standards across sites.β€’ Ability to simplify complex technical topics into clear executive communication, trade-offs, and recommendations.β€’ Strong ownership mindset with focus on outcomes, accountability, and strategic impact.β€’ Resilience and confidence to enable disciplined risk-taking, challenge assumptions, and drive decisions to closure.We welcome applications from a broad international talent pool.
