Manage the regulatory compliance roadmap for components and products designed and manufactured at Edwards Eastbourne PC. Ensure component-compliant tools, regimes and processes are in place to prepare the business for all existing and upcoming compliance legislation, from component selection in early design to testing and approval of replacement components as they reach End of Life. Report to the Sustaining Manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of product roadmaps and priorities in the Vacuum Technique Division and new NPI developments, and assess their impact on component selection and potential legislation challenges.
- Develop a coordinated approach within Eastbourne PC and the global Vacuum Technique Business Area for RoHS, REACH, TSCA compliance and their global equivalents, including PFAS legislation.
- Provide feedback to NPI engineers on the suitability of new components for designs and support the PCP process with updates as the compliance landscape changes.
- Work with external third parties and other partners within VTBA to outsource work and seek efficiencies.
- Present compliance statistics to the engineering team and adjacent functions in Eastbourne PC and VTBA, highlight risks and issues, and develop mitigation action plans.
- Create Declaration of Conformity (DoC) documentation for all new and existing Eastbourne PC designed products.
- Manage the SCIP database for all products that include components with any SVHC-related concerns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of electronics design and the trade-offs required in component selection.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English, with the ability to make decisions based on business knowledge and impact.
- Experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry and a strong understanding of the electronics distributor markets.
- Experience in a global engineering environment with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Knowledge of relevant directives for the Vacuum industry is an advantage.
- Good understanding of product development processes; experience with tools such as SAP and Silicon Expert is an advantage.
