Your role as VP Emerging Technologies, Semiconductor, is to monitor trends in semiconductor technologies and manage a team that proposes differentiated value-adding solutions leveraging Edwards’ technology across all three VTBA Semiconductor divisions. The team will develop selected technologies and architectures and support customer evaluation programs. This role will support collaboration with customers and other technology partners and develop and protect IP. This role will report to the President of the Semiconductor division.
You will:
- Monitor trends in semiconductor technologies via technology application teams, Customer Innovation Centres, conferences, etc.
- Respond to new intentions for semiconductor chipmaker operations and facilities identified via customer centres, marketing, consortia, conferences, etc.
- Identify technology combinations to meet unmet customer needs that can be developed building on our own strengths and those of appropriate external partners to create differentiated solutions accepted by customers.
- Work with BU Heads in SUN and VSC to identify opportunities for growth/disruption and manage customer messages.
- Develop team structure and individuals to maximise value-adding innovation.
- Develop a network of external partners and strategies for developing and protecting Atlas Copco IP.
- Promote customer focus and the value of innovation and disruption, alongside continuous improvement of current products.
- Work with Engineering VPs to ensure handovers and transitions into NPI.
- Advocate for appropriate resource levels and budgets and manage budgets to the agreed level.
- Initiate projects that show potential and stop projects when they show no merit.
- Oversee Customer Innovation Centres (programs, methods, customer focus).

Skills, Knowledge And Experience:
- Education level: Degree or equivalent in relevant technical/engineering discipline.
- Relevant Previous Experience: 10+ years experience related to the semiconductor industry, preferably in the field of vacuum and/or abatement and/or adjacent sub-fab equipment. NPI and customer technical support. Collaboration with external partners, including development of intellectual property.
- Knowledge Areas/Skills: Ability to develop solutions from concept selection through to realisation and testing. Knowledge of customer process tools and technologies and the use of sub-fab equipment. Knowledge of process technology and applications of sub-fab equipment. Ability to present at conferences and VP level customer meetings. Risk assessment.
Other Requirements:
- Understanding of cultural differences across regions.
- Ability to interact credibly with senior technology managers in chipmaker and OEM customers.
- Ability to work through problems and create opportunities.
- Regular international and domestic travel required.

Job location: This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely, visiting sites and customers, and being on-site at our Global Technology Centre in Burgess Hill, UK.
