Edwards Vacuum are looking for an Instructional Designer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role will be part of a central team that is responsible for designing and developing a variety of learning solutions and instructional media. The role will be primarily focused on designing and developing learning solutions for Exhaust Management Solutions (EMS) used in the Semiconductor industry. A significant part of our target audience is formed by employees providing service to EMS products. Learning needs range from attaining a basic understanding of the product, through carrying out professional service, to becoming experts capable of resolving complex issues. Our solutions are a blend of highly interactive and engaging self-paced learning modules, step-by-step instructional videos, as well as content for instructor-led training courses. The technical nature of our training solutions requires close collaboration with product development teams and other subject-matter experts. The role would ideally be based in Clevedon (North Somerset, UK).

Your Day-to-day Tasks

  • Working with complex technical documentation (product drawings, CAD models, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.)
  • Liaising with Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Converting expert information into a learner-friendly format
  • Developing interactive and highly engaging learning content (mostly eLearning)
  • Assembling different types of media (video, pictures, text, 3D) into a coherent and cohesive learning package
  • Developing T-t-T instructions to enable instructors to deliver the course content as intended
  • Developing methods of assessment to validate learners’ competence

Your Role Will Be Required To

  • Work with project stakeholders to analyse the learning needs of the target audience (TA)
  • Validate identified gaps in the Target Audience’s knowledge, skills, or attitudes
  • Define & agree learning objectives in line with the identified gaps and business needs
  • Design a learning strategy that is in line with agreed success factors
  • Design & develop learning solutions to ensure target competencies are achieved

To Succeed In This Role, You Should Be

  • Aware of engineering and/or product maintenance concepts (experience with gas abatement systems beneficial)
  • Proficient at segmenting and organising complex information into a learner-friendly format
  • Skilled in utilising eLearning authoring software (Articulate, Captivate, etc.)
  • Skilled in utilising software used for the development of classroom training content (PowerPoint)
  • Able to plan & manage workload to make sure projects are delivered in time & to the agreed quality standard
