As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will play a critical role in optimizing supplier performance, reducing costs, and supporting capital project execution. You will lead sourcing strategies that directly impact profitability, product quality, and supply chain efficiency. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in project procurement, supplier negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration. You will develop, implement, and drive continuous improvement processes with our suppliers to support a world-class supply chain of our competitor business, working closely with engineering and product management to identify gaps and opportunities.
Main Duties:
- Develop and execute a strategic sourcing roadmap, including commodity strategies, supplier onboarding, performance management, and rationalization.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles, focusing on long-term value and sustainability.
- Manage global "local for local" initiatives to encourage cost downs and alleviate import/export tariff effect.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Sales, and Supply Chain to align sourcing strategies with business goals.
- Align with Quality Team to ensure supplier compliance and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Create and drive solutions to improve the on-time-delivery (OTD) and lead times with external vendors.
- Proactively engage with suppliers, manage contract negotiations, and Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) to ensure favorable terms and risk mitigation.
- Work directly with purchase planning team to ensure purchasing and stocking strategies align with corporate working capital targets.
- Coordinate with Engineering Team on design specifications for approved parts and new product.
- Create, manage and communicate RFQs for both new and existing products.
- Compliance with all company safety and ethics requirements.
- Streamline procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce administrative overhead.
- Monitor and manage obsolete parts and supplier transitions to ensure continuity and cost-effective sourcing.
- Drive for constant cost/supply chain improvement of the products in your responsibility - there is always a better way to do things.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and global procurement.
- Strong background in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cross-functional project leadership.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement, risk mitigation, and cost analysis.
- Be willing to develop yourself by learning new skills and increasing your knowledge of products, systems and the company's market and operation.
- Be self-motivated, self-accountable and willing to act while coping with varied workloads.
- Ability to transform large amounts of information into concise and understandable internal and external messages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver messages to stakeholders at different levels inside and outside of the organization.
- Be customer oriented, able to understand customer needs and prioritize them accordingly.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with SAP is helpful.
- PMP and IACCM certifications are highly valued.
- Able to take risks while still analyzing potential pitfalls of his/her actions.
- Show good level of empathy while enforcing company policies and strategic directions.
- Demonstrate assertiveness while being helpful to various demands from the organization.
- Be organized while demonstrating flexibility in day-to-day work.
Education & Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing roles, with a focus on capital projects and equipment.
- Comfortable working with global teams in fast-paced, change-oriented environments.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. Some travel may be required.
