The corporate tax team at this global law firm covers all aspects of advisory and transactional, direct and indirect corporate tax. Most tax partners at the firm prefer to maintain an eclectic mix of work and, while the firm is generally relaxed about that approach, it does occasionally require a partner to take the lead on a particular workstream, albeit not necessarily on an exclusive basis.
In this instance, a looming succession issue will soon leave the corporate insurance team without a “go‑to” tax partner for its burgeoning warranties & indemnities (W&I) workstream. To that end, the law firm is keen to hire a lateral—someone with enough W&I experience “to be dangerous”—who can dedicate a reasonable proportion of their time to the insurance sector. You need not be a specialist insurance tax lawyer, and the firm will likely need you to assist on private equity or real estate matters in any event.
The firm will consider either an established partner or, in this case, possibly a blocked senior associate or counsel with W&I tax experience to whom they can offer day‑one partnership.
